Daily report of distribution of convicts, 1923-1945.

The warden of every prison and road camp was required to compile a Daily Report of Distribution of Convicts (Malcolm C. Moos, State Penal Administration in Alabama, University of Alabama, 1942, 62). Reports indicate the number of inmates on hand by race and sex, the number at work and type of employment, the number sick or unable to work, and the names and serial numbers of those received, transferred, discharged, paroled, or escaped. Also included is a brief description of weather conditions (by which a determination was made whether or not to work the inmates), and a statement indicating whether or not the Prison Physician had visited the prison, and if he had, the time of his arrival and departure. These records were also created the Board of Control and Economy (1919-1923), the Board of Convict Supervisors (1923), and the Board of Administration (1923-1939).
